A popular, picturesque Devon village, six miles from the seaside resort of Budleigh Salterton. The village is surrounded by Woodbury Common, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty that offers many miles of pathways for walkers and cyclists. The centre of the village is dominated by the wonderful 13th century church together with the village green, village shops and two friendly local pubs, both offering good food and local beers. The village also has a few curiosity and antique shops and a studio displaying fantastic paintings and pottery. Situated in the heart of rural East Devon, Woodbury is a short drive from the acclaimed Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site. There are numerous tourist attractions close by including A La Ronde, a quirky 18th century house with fascinating interior decoration and collections. Spanning nearly 300 years of horticultural history, Bicton Gardens are set in East Devon's picturesque Otter Valley, which also houses Otterton Mill, a historic working watermill where visitors can enjoy local food in the restaurant. Famous for its winter flocks of avocet, the Exe Estuary nature reserve combines two areas of coastal grazing marsh on opposite sides of the river, home to numerous wading birds.
