The delightful rural hamlet of Pencoed is situated between the towns of Ruthin and Corwen, which are to the north of Llangollen and by way of the spectacular Horseshoe Pass. Ruthin is an attractive town with half-timbered buildings set around St. Peter’s Square and it has a variety of interesting shops and other buildings. The oldest timber frame building in Wales, Nant Clwyd House, the Ruthin Craft Centre and Ruthin Gaol are definitely worth a visit, and the surrounding countryside is simply breathtaking. The Moel Famau Country Park, Lake Brenig and Clocaenog Forest are close by and are sure to enthral visitors, and a little further afield but still easily accessible is Snowdonia National Park and the glorious coastline. This is a beautiful region for a holiday any time of year.
