Old Buckenham in Norfolk is a great place to head for a self catering short break or holiday... there is so much to see and do. Click here to find out more »
Old Buckenham is reputed to have the largest village green in Britain. It has its own church, castle and a windmill, which is reputed to be the largest tower-windmill in the UK. This surprising village even boasts its own airfield and it is not uncommon to see vintage aircraft taking off or landing here. The only pub in the village dates back to the 17th Century and, while it serves good food, there are other places to eat in the nearby towns and villages, such as New Buckenham, Kenninghall and Banham. For other attractions, Banham has its own zoo and you can go to Snetterton to observe the high-octane thrills of its regular race-meetings. Old Buckenham is also perfectly situated to explore the famous Norfolk Broads and its canal system, whilst the beautiful Norfolk Coast is only a short drive away.
