Set close to the cliffs of Point Lynas and the little bay of Porth Eilian, this scattered, rural village on the beautiful north coast of Anglesey is situated in stunning countryside, perfect for scenic walks and cycle rides. The town is best known for its lighthouse, which was built in 1835, and for its small shingle and sand beach. Sheltered by cliffs and headland, the beach is the perfect spot for swimming, boating, fishing and other water sports. The old port of Amlwch is just two miles to the west and claims the to be the most northerly town in Wales whilst nearby Parys Mountain offers visitors the chance to enjoy the Copper Mine Trail Walk amidst the old ruins of what was the world's largest copper mine during the 18th Century. The port attached to the town is dates as far back as medieval times. For those interested in history, the town of Beaumaris offers a 13th Century moated castle and museums as well as excellent shops, pubs and restaurants.
