Bagby in North Yorkshire is a great place to head for a self catering short break or holiday... there is so much to see and do. Click here to find out more »
Only three miles from Thirsk, the picturesque village of Bagby is situated between the eastern Hambleton Hills and the western Yorkshire Dales. Whilst composed of only a few farm dwellings, period houses and a great traditional pub, this village boasts a wide range of local walks, cycle paths, fishing and bird watching. Other nearby activities include microlight flights at Bagby airport and Monk Park Farm visitor centre. The nearby town of Thirsk is also a hive of activity - with the famous racecourse holding dozens of events a year, cosy tea-shops and delicatessens, there is something for everyone amongst this town’s cobbled streets. Thirsk also inspired Alf Wight to create the town of Darrowby, the setting of the James Herriot novels and fans will be able to see many similarities. The historic towns of York and Ripon are also within driving distance, as are the coastal resorts of Scarborough and Whitby.
