The town of Westward Ho! was made famous in Charles Kingsley's novel of the same name whilst its two miles of beaches retain the prestigious Blue Flag award for cleanliness. The town's impressive golden strand is backed by a unique pebble ridge, which attracts visitors from all over the country. The coastline also offers fantastic bathing and water sports activities. The South West Coastal path and Tarka Trails are situated within easy reach and provide magnificent walks, whilst the Big Sheep Adventure Park and the bustling market town of Bideford are well worth visiting. Bideford itself boasts the renowned Atlantic Shopping Centre, a charming quayside and an impressive medieval bridge. The secluded fishing village of Clovelly also within easy driving distance and offers a maze of cobbled streets, littered with numerous art shops, tea-rooms and craft centres.
