Description
We are delighted to include The Tower House within our portfolio, situated at Newbiggin, only 10 minutes drive from the M6 motorway. Ideally placed for exploring the delights of both the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales, Windermere is a mere 25 minutes drive away with Sedbergh and the impressive Howgill fells a 10 minute walk from the door. Once home to Elizabeth Gaunt, the last woman to be burned at the stake at Tyburn and a principal hiding place of Prince Charlie, The Tower House has a significant history, and the property retains the tower, which was used as a lookout for raiders from the Borders. Comfortable furnishings with many personal touches blend well with original features of oak panelling, flagstone floors and exposed stonework. The accommodation is spacious and flexible offering plenty of opportunity for escaping the rest of the party, both inside and out, to sit quietly and absorb the ambience of this truly unique house. The grounds are delightful with a variety of areas for sitting out and plenty of level playing ground, including an orchard for the younger members of your party to run off some energy before enjoying dinner in the impressive dining hall.
