Description
Guests will delight in the grounds of this Grade II* listed buiding, situated in delightful countryside on the outskirts of the historic city of Carlisle and only 1 mile from the M6. Newbiggin Hall is steeped in history and was built originally as a pele tower in 1304, a place of refuge from Scottish raiders and feuding border families, providing shelter for humans and animals. Subsequent re-building and additions in the 17th and 18th century have created a handsome country house. The location is perfect as a base to visit the Lakes, Carlisle, Hadrians Wall, the Scottish Borders and the Eden Valley. The nearest pub is approx. 1 mile and Carlisle has an abundance of amenities, great shopping, superb dining and places of interest such as the Cathedral, Castle and Tullie House Museum. The extensive 3 acre garden provide an idyllic spot to relax and unwind, with very large lawns, flower borders and a woodland which kids will love to play in. There is a lovely 3 mile walk from Newbiggin Hall which takes you across the river Petteril, through woodland and open countryside.
