Description
An ancient Celtic Kingdom deservedly known as The Jewel of the Dales, Dent is 16 miles east of Kendal in the south east corner of Cumbria, only 3 miles from Sedbergh and lies at the Western edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park and on the fringes of the Lake District National Park. An ideal base for visitors wishing to enjoy the nearby countryside, there is an outstanding variety of walks from the door, to the top of Helm Knott and Whernside, one of the famous Yorkshire Three Peaks, to a delightful stroll along the Dee, part of the Dales Way, which passes through Dentdale. The craft centre at Helmside and just 100 yards from Helm Byre, offers a collection of goods produced by local Dales folk, everything from watercolours and prints to walking sticks and pottery, ideal souvenirs of your stay.
